Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Planning your event is a big challenge. These FAQs will assist you in your Disc Jockey selection so your event will be as successful and memorable as you want it to be.

How far in advance should I book my DJ?
Most good full-time DJs will book up quickly. I would suggest booking a DJ about a 9 to 12 months in advance of a wedding and 3 to 6 months in advance of any other function.

What types of packages and pricing plans do you offer?
Many different options are available. When we meet can discuss in more detail what type of function you want. Being the sole owner and operator, I do not implement pre-priced packages. This allows me to set my prices based on your exact needs and requirements. This ensures you get the best quality for the best price.

Will you provide a written contract?
1 o'clock jump! offers a free consultation prior to your event where we can go through your needs and desires for your special night. A contract is then created to secure your desired date and to protect both parties and to make the event official.

What will it take to secure my date?
Once a signed contract and the required deposit are received, your date is booked and secure!

Can we pick the music that we want played?
Absolutely! Prior to your event we will discuss your favorite songs so they can be worked into the event. However, you do not need to list every song that you want played. As a professional DJ I have plenty of experience with knowing exactly what song to play and when.

What if there are songs we don't want to be played?
That is totally up to you, it's your party and if you don't want certain songs to be played, than please let me know. If a guest asks to play something you don't want played, I will politely explain that you don't want it played.

Do you play requests?
Requests are played throughout the night or unless otherwise specified. Requests are ordered in a format that will flow smoothly with the music in a logical sequence or if appropriate, first come, first serve.

There is a company policy in place not to play profanity that would offend people attending your special event.

How do I plan for the details of the music?
I will discuss the event with you in detail obtaining key information such as:
General Information - info about the event (key parties (Bride/Groom, etc.), date, time location, number of guests, etc.)
Reception Highlights - detailed info about your choices (cocktail/dinner music, toast, blessing, cake cutting, first dance, Bride & Father/Groom & Mother dance, garter toss, last dance, etc.)
Party Introductions - introduce members of the party
Music Selection - list of MUST PLAY, PLAY IF POSSIBLE and DO NOT PLAY songs
Timeline - details of when you want key events to occur during the event

Are you going to be the DJ and MC for our event, or are you going to send us someone else?
You get ME! If you hire 1 o'clock jump! the DJ you meet with, plan your event with and trust to work your event will be the ME. I am the one that shows up and makes your event a success.

Do I have to worry about any hidden charges that come up?
No hidden charges. The price quoted covers the total cost of entertainment for the evening provided by 1 o'clock jump!. There are no extra traveling charges. Other plans such as a meal for the DJ and sleeping arrangements for distant out of town events can be discussed individually per client.

What type of events do you specialize in?
1 o'clock jump!
specializes in weddings, Christmas and other holiday parties, school dances, birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, corporate events and any other party that requires music.

I have experience in events that involve mixed age groups as well as parties that require a fun, creative DJ to get involved with the crowd. I have handled many other types of unique events as well and am qualified to do so.

What happens if by the end of the night, the crowd is having too much fun partying and says "let there be music"?
No problem. 1 o'clock jump! would always be willing to play for a small extension of time at no extra cost. We wouldn't just 'cut your night off' and pack up unless informed to do so. If you wish for your event to go substantially later than agreed upon, however, there may be a small hourly charge.

Many DJs are not flexible with this and some will not play any overtime.

How do we know we're getting a professional DJ who takes our special event seriously?
As the founder of my company, I take my work very seriously. My main concern when performing at your event is to give everyone a great night, exceed your expectations and take the pressure off you so that you have no worries.

You can relax in knowing that the night's success is as important to me as it is to you, if not more.

I come to your event organized, on time and dressed well. You can be at ease knowing that 1 o'clock jump! is not just a basement company trying to make a few bucks on the side. When you hire 1 o'clock jump! you hire a professional throughout the entire event. My personal goal as a disc jockey is to raise the standards for DJ's in my area and establish a reputable and successful business that will meet or exceed the expectations of hiring a professional DJ.
